Teenage Dream ('24-25 Manchester City Home 5-1)

Kunal Bambawale

Unbridled Joy.

Destiny fulfilled by:

- the inevitability of Ethan Nwaneri’s precision, his now-signature goal.
- a swivel of Myles Lewis-Skelly’s hips, hunched and controlled, stocky power.

5-1. Second half domination. Hunger, luck, skill.

Arsenal have just dismantled Manchester City and I can’t believe what I’m watching, my skepticism dismantled with each successive goal.

Yes, sometimes, the good guys win, the bad guys get what they deserve. Yes, our plucky millionaire underdogs can hammer their multi-millionaire prima donnas.

Suddenly, Arsenal have returned, 21 years after the Invincibles. Our players, our club, are finally recognisable in their athleticism, their audacity, their will to win.

I am floating, decades of suffering and humiliation discarded by this zany, giggling improbability.

5-1. It really happened.
